2017 CAPED Scholarships Application Instructions

CAPED Scholarships are available for online application and submission only. All students must apply online. Email, traditional mail, fax, and other submission methods are not acceptable.

IMPORTANT: Before you apply, review General Eligibility Requirements and Scholarship Descriptions to ensure you are an appropriate candidate for the scholarship(s) for which you are applying.

You CANNOT save your application and return to it at a later time. It is recommended to complete your standard essays, supplemental essays, and gather your necessary verification documents prior to beginning the online application process.

You may apply for up to a maximum of 3 scholarships. However, selected applicants will only receive 1 scholarship award. Only 1 CAPED Scholarship Application is necessary to apply to multiple scholarships. If you are applying to multiple scholarships, please click and select up to 3 scholarships in your online application.

The CAPED Scholarship Application is a three-part application, Part 1: General Application, Part 2: Supplemental Essays (for selected scholarships), and Part 3: Verification & Recommendation Documents. All parts of the application are required for consideration. You may use the CAPED Scholarship Application Checklist to assist you through the application process. Applicants are considered for award based on a combination score calculated from GPA, essays, and letter of recommendation. Failure to complete any part of the application will result in automatic disqualification.

Step-by step guide to apply:

PART 1: GENERAL APPLICATION

PERSONAL INFORMATION

Complete all fields. Choose and click up to 3 scholarships to apply. *Note: selected applicants will only receive 1 scholarship award.

STANDARD ESSAY QUESTIONS

Complete Essays 1 and 2. Indicate Essay 1 or 2, your full name, and college/university at the top of each of your attachments.

Save your attachments with the following naming format: Last Name, First Name_attachment type. For example: Smith, John_Essay 1.

Upload attachments in the appropriate fields.

 

PART 2: SUPPLEMENTAL ESSAYS

Complete the supplemental essay question(s) required by the specific scholarship(s) for which you are applying. Not all scholarships will require a supplemental essay. Indicate your full name, college/university, and the specific scholarship(s) for which you are applying at the top of each of your attachment(s).

Save your attachment(s) with the following naming format: Last Name, First Name_attachment type. For example: Smith, John_Supplemental Essay Susan Bunch Scholarship.

Upload your attachment(s) in the appropriate field.

 

PART 3: VERIFICATION & RECOMMENDATION DOCUMENTS

TRANSCRIPTS

Current unofficial transcripts are required.

Save your transcripts with the following naming format: Last Name, First Name_Transcripts. For example: Smith, John_Transcripts.

Upload your transcripts in the appropriate field.

LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION

One letter of recommendation from a college/university instructor/professor (not a disability specialist or counselor) is required. This letter must describe your academic achievements and your ability to meet scholastic responsibilities.

Save your letter of recommendation with the following naming format: Last Name, First Name_Letter of Recommendation. For example: Smith, John_Letter of Recommendation.

Upload letter of recommendation in the appropriate field.

DISABILITY CERTIFICATION FORM

Download Disability Certification Form. Ask your college/university Disability Office to complete and sign form.

Save your Disability Certification Form with the following naming format: Last Name, First Name_Disability Certification. For example: Smith, John_Disability Certification.

Upload completed Disability Certification form in the appropriate field.

TO SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION

Click submit and print the confirmation page for your records (right click on the screen and select print, or use your printscreen function).

SPECIAL NOTES:

You CANNOT save your application and return to it at a later time. It is recommended to complete your standard essays, supplemental essays, and gather your necessary verification documents prior to beginning the online application process.

All attachments must be scanned copies uploaded in one of the following formats: .doc or .pdf. Please do not submit photographs of your forms/documents.

Incomplete applications will be automatically disqualified for consideration.
